Every first time safari traveler has a great expectation to encounter the big five or Big5. The original hunters and explorers came up with this term to describe the most sort after big game trophy animals.
The big five include: Elephant, Rhino although there are two species, Cape Buffalo, African Lion and Leopard.
Other impressive animals like the Hippo and Giraffe never made it onto the list but once you get over the checklists, a whole larger picture develops.
